Melbourne’s first self-serve açaí bar. Five bars across Melbourne, every one of them ours.
Our story
We were twenty. We signed the lease anyway.
The idea turned up on a walk around a park. Three of us, all twenty, arguing about why eating well had to be so slow, so boring and so expensive.
None of us had run a shop before. No hospitality background, no investors, no plan B. Just three mates who decided to have a crack before anyone could talk us out of it.
Açaí in Melbourne was being made for you, behind a counter. Same bowl, same toppings, same price for everyone. We thought you should build your own.
So we backed ourselves. In 2023 we opened one bar on Glenferrie Road in Malvern and turned the counter around. We called it Blitz, after the sound of a blender. The word had the energy we wanted.
You fill your own cup, you walk the toppings bar, you weigh and pay. Nobody judging your açaí to peanut butter ratio.
Melbourne got it. Three and a half years on there are five Blitz bars across Melbourne. Every one of them is ours.
We were three twenty year olds who did not know what we did not know. Turns out that was the advantage.
OUR MISSION
HEALTHY FOOD SHOULD BE THE EASY CHOICE.
It usually is not. It is slow, it is boring, and it makes you feel like you are being told off.
So we build it the other way around. Fast, convenient and yours. More than forty toppings, so there is a bowl for every taste and every dietary requirement, and nothing on the bar you need to apologise for.
We want Australia eating more fruit and veg, because people who eat properly feel better. That is the whole mission.
MADE IN OUR OWN BARS
GOOD THINGS ARE MADE HERE.
The peanut butter on our toppings bar is ours. Two ingredients, peanuts and natural salt, blitzed in house. It has been on the bar since the day Malvern opened. The raspberry chia jam and the granola are ours too.
